How To Shop Scott’s Antiques (ATL)

A few weekends ago I traveled to Scott’s Antiques in Atlanta, Georgia. Even though we lived there for two years, I sadly never made it over there. There is a little bit of an art to shopping there, so without further ado, let me get into it.

  • There are two buildings to shop-the North and South buildings. They do offer a shuttle back and forth to the buildings, however you can also drive your own car if you want.

  • There are no shopping carts, so I suggest that you bring something that rolls so you can haul your items in it. For the larger items, they will certainly help you take it out of the store and into your car.

  • Most importantly-there is food for you to buy! If you get hungry, they have hot dogs, barbecue sandwiches, large pretzels, cokes, water, etc. No need to pack your own lunch!

  • Carry cash. Some vendors will only take cash, so carrying it is important.

  • You can negotiate with vendors, but I suggest getting straight to the point and asking them “What is the best offer that you will take?”

The Positives

  • The North building had exquisite furniture. I have never seen antique furniture so beautiful. If you are looking for a special piece, then the North building is your best bet.

  • Also in the North building, I found some beautiful lamps that seemed like a deal compared to what you find on the Internet and/or modern shops. They were unique and refurbished, so that was a bonus.

  • The art in the North building was also beautiful.

  • There was a holiday vendor in the South building that I really enjoyed. He had great prices as well as garland, wreaths, and ornaments.

The Negatives

  • The South building was lacking in the higher-end look, but the prices were the same as the North building.

  • If you are going to get a deal at Scott’s Antiques, then you will be disappointed. Most of the items are pricey.

  • There is nothing fancy about the buildings or locations, so go in your tennis shoes and comfortable clothing, and be prepared to walk (not sure if this is a negative?).

This console table was one of my favorite pieces I saw. It was beautiful and would be perfect in an entryway.

This art piece was exquisite. The picture doesn’t do it justice, and it was huge!

This was refurbished from 1850, and in person it was stunning.  The details were perfection.

I almost bought this lamp, and the vendor did make a deal with me, but she would only sell them as a pair (there is another one not pictured). I didn’t need two, so I moved on. Sigh. I still love it.

These intaglio’s were stunning and huge as well. The vendor was super nice and that was a plus. :-)

Another stunning piece.

Do I recommend going? Yes, I do-especially if you are looking for a special, vintage piece of furniture, then this is the place you are going to find it. I hope this helps if you are planning on going. If you have already been, what was your experience? Let me know in the comments below!

Love,
